think.BDPST 2020–Panel II

Organised annually in Budapest by the Antall József Knowledge Centre in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary and with the support of the International Visegrad Fund, think.BDPST is a strategic conference focusing on perspectives of research, innovation, and future technologies.

The 2020 event, held on 2 October 2020, examined topics such as the future of 5G, data protection in the post-COVID era, or the regulation of tech giants in today’s societies.

With the COVID-19 pandemic raging globally, governments are rushing for innovative solutions to contain the virus. Newly developed contract tracing apps have emerged in several countries, and it begs the question: are these safe? Should they be voluntary? When should those be dismantled? The lines are blurred – and with international experts on board, the panel discusses all the ambiguities regarding data protection today and in the future.
