A new era has started in EU–UK relations on 1 January this year, when, after almost 50 years of membership, the United Kingdom ceased to be a member state of the European Union in all aspects. During the panel discussion organised by the Antall József Knowledge Centre in partnership with the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies, experts will present the findings of the preliminary research paper focusing on the EU–UK economic, political and defence relationship and the effects of Brexit on the Central and Eastern European region. The experts will analyse in detail the different aspects of Brexit and what it will mean for the EU and for its member states.
What are the long-term effects of Brexit on the UK and the EU? Would a treaty change result in a stronger European Union? What did Europe learn from Brexit? What foreign policy goals and challenges do the EU and the UK share? Are subgroups in the EU-27 rather helpful or harmful?
